Wanda Sue Grupa, 75, of Hemphill, passed away on April 26, 2024 at her residence. She was born on November 5, 1948, in Talladega, Alabama, to Arthur Elder and Catherine Wright Elder. Wanda worked many years as an Accounts Payable Specialist in the Oil and Gas industry.

Wanda attended Fairdale Baptist Church and loved volunteering at the Salvation Army in Hemphill. She moved from The Woodlands to the lakes area after retirement, where she enjoyed her hobbies of arts and crafts and being a member of the Friendship Club.

She is survived by her husband of 55 years and one month, Robert Grupa of Hemphill; son, Michael Grupa and wife, Jenifer, of Spring, ; brothers, Robert Elder and wife, Marianne, of Divide, Colorado, and Marty Elder of Spring; sisters, Cindy Holbrook of Tomball and Gina Bryan and husband, Gordon, of Hemphill; grandchildren, Matthew and Christy Grupa, Nicholas Grupa and fiancé, Morgan, and Austin Grupa.

Wanda was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Catherine Elder.

Visitation will be held on Monday, April 29, 2024, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Starr Funeral Home, 510 Starr Street, Hemphill, Texas.

Funeral services will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 30, 2024, at Fairdale Baptist Church, 4820 Fairdale Rd., Hemphill, Texas, with Bro. J. R. McDonald officiating.

Burial will be held later in Houston National Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Matthew Grupa, Austin Grupa, Nicholas Grupa, Bryan Cheney, Gordon Bryan, and Blake Young, with Chris Cheney serving as an honorary pallbearer.

Starr Funeral Home in Hemphill, Texas, is assisting the family with the arrangements.
